To mark the autumn reading season, a hotel in Busan has proposed a trip to the old downtown with books as the medium.

Lotte Hotel Busan announced on September 9 that it has teamed up with Hamateomyeon, an independent bookstore in Jeonpo-dong, Busan, to launch the autumn season room package, "A Line of Autumn."

Guests will receive a one-night stay along with a carefully selected independent publication from Hamateomyeon. The book—either an essay or a picture book—will be randomly chosen and provided in a blind wrap, so guests will not know which book they receive until they open it.

The included handwritten recommendation card also draws attention. Instead of visiting designated tourist spots, guests are encouraged to leisurely flip through books in their rooms and discover the world of Busan’s independent publishing and stories of the local area. If a particular book resonates with them, they can visit the bookstore where it originated.

Hamateomyeon, the collaborating bookstore, is an independent bookstore in Busan that documents vanishing things and connects people and relationships as its main theme. Located in a redevelopment area of Jeonpo-dong, it introduces books about Busan’s past and present.

The hotel aims to connect accommodation with local content through this collaboration. For international visitors to Busan, this offers the experience of analog content—books from a Korean independent bookstore and handwritten cards—instead of conventional souvenirs.
