Shinhan Card Develops AI for Financial Product Selection in Preparation for "Agent Commerce" Era
Shinhan Card announced on September 9 that it has been finally selected for the "2026 Public-Private Joint Technology Commercialization R&D Phase 3" project, organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The company will begin developing an artificial intelligence (AI) engine that autonomously recommends optimal financial products and makes decisions.
Shinhan Card explained that, as the era of AI agent commerce approaches, the company aims to proactively build a next-generation AI infrastructure that can accurately and reliably support complex decision-making processes to help customers find and choose the most suitable financial products.
In the financial sector, the application of generative AI is expanding from product recommendations based on consumption patterns and asset analysis to support for specialized financial work. However, when users ask AI chatbots complex questions about product recommendations or subscription requirements, the answers are often off the mark. This is because current AI-based decision-making systems rely on probabilistic judgments, which can result in a lack of consistency or omission of complex conditions. In such cases, information can be distorted or policies and regulations may not be reflected.
To overcome these limitations, Shinhan Card has set a goal of automating decision-making by structuring the complex conditions embedded in services, policies, and regulations. The company plans to prioritize applying this technology to financial product recommendations and gradually expand it to areas such as risk management, marketing, and customer consultation. The technology development and proof-of-concept will be carried out in partnership with the AI infrastructure company, Connectionary.
