Gaon Cable Makes First Entry into Canadian Electricity Market, Accelerates Expansion in North America
Supply of Medium-Voltage Cables to Major Power Company
First Entry into North America’s Public Power Grid
Gaon Cable is making its first entry into the Canadian electricity market, accelerating its push into North America. Gaon Cable announced on September 9 that it has recently supplied medium-voltage (MV) cables to a major public power company in western Canada.
This delivery marks Gaon Cable’s first export to Canada, and it is the company’s inaugural success in the ‘public power infrastructure’ sector in North America, whereas previous business had centered on private industrial facilities such as artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, semiconductor plants, and power stations.
Having officially demonstrated its leading domestic distribution cable technology and quality competitiveness in the highly challenging overseas public electricity market, the company is now positioned more favorably for upcoming public power grid projects across North America.
The Canadian government currently expects electricity demand to surge to roughly twice the present level by 2050, aligning with the expansion of AI data centers and the growth of advanced manufacturing. In response, large-scale modernization and new expansion projects for the transmission and distribution grids are underway, which is anticipated to fuel soaring demand for cables.
Gaon Cable plans to further accelerate its strategy for the North American market, taking this entry into Canada as a new springboard. By leveraging the organic supply chain synergy between its headquarters and its production subsidiary in North Carolina, United States (LSCUS), North American sales are projected to rocket from around $300 million last year to approximately $470 million this year—a surge of more than 50%.
