Up to 64% Off Food Products Including Ramen and Dumplings Before Chuseok... Agriculture Ministry and Food Industry Hold Meeting
Plans to Expand K-Food Exports Also Discussed
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, in cooperation with the food industry ahead of Chuseok, will offer discounts of up to 64% on 4,765 processed food products, including ramen and dumplings.
On September 8, the ministry held a meeting with key food industry officials to discuss these Chuseok holiday price stabilization measures and strategies to boost K-Food exports.
The ministry requested that discount events be expanded, focusing on processed foods and gift sets with increased holiday demand, and asked for thorough management to ensure there is no disruption to peak-season supply.
Accordingly, twenty food companies, including CJ CheilJedang, Nongshim, Samyang Foods, Ottogi, and Daesang, will offer discounts this month on 4,765 products across 27 categories, such as ramen, noodles, dumplings, cooking oil, and ready-to-eat meals. The government also plans to help ease companies’ cost burdens by implementing tariff quotas, supporting raw material purchase funds, and improving regulations.

During the meeting, plans to expand K-Food exports were also discussed. The government and the food industry agreed to strengthen overseas market strategies by developing products tailored to local markets, expanding global distribution networks, and leveraging Korean Wave (Hallyu)-related marketing. They also plan to support the acquisition of overseas certifications, the development of logistics infrastructure, and the resolution of customs clearance challenges, as well as expand export support programs next year.
