For the next two years, until September 2028, Kany will participate in Hanam’s cultural and arts festivals, the production of promotional materials for the city’s urban branding, and other activities, promoting the city’s charm both at home and abroad.
Kany, a French choreographer of Senegalese descent, is a top-tier artist who directed choreography for the Michael Jackson tribute show as well as Beyoncé’s “Renaissance World Tour.” She also led the choreography production for the official song of the 2026 North and Central America World Cup, “Dai Dai,” which features pop stars Shakira and Burna Boy.
In Korea, she has choreographed for top K-pop artists such as Jisoo of Blackpink, VIVIZ, and Key of SHINee. She has also appeared on national television variety shows and YouTube content, building a familiar image with the public.
Kany is currently a resident of Wirye in Hanam, and thus a Hanam citizen. She has expressed her affection for the area, consistently showing satisfaction with Hanam’s natural environments such as the Namhansanseong walking trails and green spaces, as well as lifestyle infrastructure like the recently opened Wirye Multipurpose Sports Center.
Hanam City plans to leverage Kany’s global network and artistic sensibility to promote municipal affairs. In particular, the city aims to publicize its vision of becoming a cultural city—highlighted by projects like the ‘K-Star World’ K-culture complex—both domestically and internationally, and to strengthen its young and dynamic image through short-form videos and social media.
Kany said, “As a member of the Hanam community, I am thrilled and honored to take on the role of ambassador to promote the city as a wonderful place to live. With the passion and positive energy I have shown on stage, I hope to share Hanam’s vibrant culture and diverse attractions with the world in an inspiring way.”
