Strengthening Financial Regulation Advisory
in Areas Such as Sandbox and Credit Information
Hwawoo Law Firm announced on September 9 that it has recruited attorney Masoon, a former director at the Financial Services Commission, as a partner attorney.
Attorney Masoon began his public service career in 2007 as an administrative official at the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Ministry of Finance and Economy. He later served in the Banking Policy Division, Insurance Policy Division, SME Finance Division, and Microfinance Team at the Financial Services Commission, where he was responsible for licensing and sanctions procedures for banks, insurers, and specialized credit finance business. He also dealt extensively with financial infrastructure laws such as the Act on Reporting and Using Specified Financial Transaction Information, the Real Name Financial Transactions Act, the Electronic Financial Transactions Act, the Credit Information Use and Protection Act, and the Financial Consumer Protection Act.
After being promoted to director in 2020, he led the enactment of subordinate regulations under the Financial Consumer Protection Act while working in the Financial Consumer Policy Division, and oversaw the designation of innovative financial services and the establishment of guidelines for exclusive operation rights as the head of the Financial Regulatory Sandbox team. Most recently, as the head of the second investigation team in the joint response unit to eradicate stock price manipulation, he supervised on-site investigations of unfair trading in the capital markets.
Hwawoo plans to strengthen its advisory capabilities in financial regulatory matters such as regulatory sandboxes, digital finance, unfair trading in capital markets, credit information, anti-money laundering, and licensing and sanctions in the financial industry through attorney Masoon's addition.
