The West Sea Regional Coast Guard has initiated a crackdown on fraudulent distribution activities, such as misrepresenting the origin or illegally importing seafood, targeting increased seafood consumption ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
On September 8, the West Sea Coast Guard announced that it will conduct a special crackdown on illegal seafood distribution activities for three weeks until the 28th in preparation for the Chuseok holiday.
This crackdown will be conducted jointly with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service, and local governments. The main inspection targets include import companies, seafood markets, large supermarkets, and online retailers.
