KOSPI Gains Over 1% Intraday on Institutional Net Buying
The KOSPI is showing a strong gain of over 1% during intraday trading, driven by net buying from institutional investors.
As of 10:22 a.m. on September 8, the KOSPI is trading at 7,069.19, up 1.05% from the previous day.
By investor group, institutions are recording a net purchase of 273 billion won, while foreigners and individuals are net sellers of 300 million won and 673.2 billion won, respectively. In the futures market, institutions are net sellers of 568.3 billion won, while foreigners and individuals are net buyers of 358.1 billion won and 189.2 billion won, respectively.
Performance is mixed across sectors. The construction sector is leading with a 4.39% rise, followed by machinery & equipment with 2.88%, utilities with 2.47%, general services with 1.83%, electrical & electronics with 1.74%, securities with 1.41%, manufacturing with 1.36%, retail with 1.3%, metals with 0.89%, and entertainment & culture with 0.69%. On the other hand, the IT services sector is down 1.74%, while paper & lumber, food & beverages & tobacco, and transportation & warehousing are each down 0.69%.
Among large-cap stocks, performance is also mixed. Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are up 1.39% and 3.37%, respectively, and SK Square is up 3.11%. Samsung C&T is up 1.56%, Doosan Enerbility is up 4.1%, and Hanwha Aerospace is up 0.14%. In contrast, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has dropped 2.48%, while LG Energy Solution, Hyundai Motor, and Samsung Biologics have declined by 1.24%, 1.15%, and 0.68%, respectively.
The KOSDAQ index is also on the rise at the same time. The KOSDAQ is trading at 825.35, up 0.38% from the previous day. By investor group, foreigners and individuals are net buyers of 2.1 billion won and 80.9 billion won, respectively, while institutions are net sellers of 83.5 billion won.
Performance among top KOSDAQ stocks is mixed as well. Alteogen has dropped 2.27%, with Rainbow Robotics down 0.33%, EO Technics down 1.75%, and Robotis down 0.5%. Meanwhile, EcoPro and EcoPro BM are up 1.33% and 0.94%, respectively, while Jusung Engineering is up 6.41%, Wonik IPS up 0.43%, Leeno Industrial up 3.22%, Simmtech up 3.51%, and HPSP up 2.25%.

Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate is trading at 1,338.8 won, down 7.9 won from the previous day.
