View original imageOn September 8, UNICEF Korea Committee announced that it has appointed Heo Geumjoo, former Executive Director at Kyobo Life Insurance, as its new Secretary General.
Secretary General Heo previously held various roles at Kyobo Life Insurance, including planning, business-to-business (B2B) operations, and communications, eventually serving as Executive Director. She was also the founding president of the Korea chapter of the World Women Forum, and has been active in organizations such as the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI), Women in Innovation, and the Seoul Scholarship Foundation.
UNICEF Korea Committee stated, "We appointed Secretary General Heo in consideration of her experience in management and organizational operations, her international network, and her strong external communication skills."
Secretary General Heo commented, "As a member of UNICEF Korea Committee, which works for all children around the world, I feel a great sense of responsibility. Based on the management expertise and global experience I've accumulated, I will strive to promote the values and vision of UNICEF, and mobilize more people to join the movement for change to ensure the rights and happiness of children."
Going forward, Secretary General Heo will collaborate with UNICEF headquarters and oversee the main functions and organizational operations of the Committee in Korea, including fundraising, advocacy for children's rights, public relations, and partnership development.
