LS Electric Chairman Koo Ja-kyun to Visit US Next Week to Discuss Response to AI Power Demand
Regular On-Site Business Inspections Planned
To Lead Strategy Workshop and Review Expansion Plans
Chairman Koo Ja-kyun of LS Electric will visit the United States next week to inspect the expansion of the local plant and devise strategies to target the North American power equipment market for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.
According to the industry on September 8, Chairman Koo is scheduled to personally preside over the 'LS Electric Strategic Workshop Meeting' at the LS Electric Bastrop plant in Texas next week. It is reported that top management, including CEO Chae Dae-seok of LS Electric, will participate in large numbers, making it the largest executive meeting of the year.

LS Electric is currently investing 250 billion won into its Utah plant in the United States to expand the production site for power equipment from 13,223㎡ to 79,338㎡, an increase of approximately six times. During this business trip, Chairman Koo is expected to review the progress at the Utah plant, as well as explore the possibility of further expanding North American production bases including the Bastrop plant, and multifaceted strategies for efficient localization.
Previously, in January of this year, Chairman Koo attended 'CES 2026' in Las Vegas to observe AI industry trends firsthand and has been working to penetrate the North American market by regularly checking the on-site production and customer demand of local clients every quarter. This large-scale strategic meeting is expected to accelerate LS Electric's efforts to establish a localized production system and strengthen its dominance in the global market.
Chairman Koo’s moves are also seen as a proactive step to respond to the recent surge in power infrastructure demand from North American AI Big Tech (large information technology companies). With strong supply of essential transformers and distribution boards for AI data centers, LS Electric’s new orders in the first half of this year surged to 3.2 trillion won, a 217% increase year-on-year. The annual order guidance has also been raised to between 6 trillion and 6.5 trillion won, with approximately 45% of this expected to come from data center-related projects.

In addition, the company has built the world’s first direct current (DC) distribution-based manufacturing plant, the ‘DC Factory,’ at its Cheonan site, allowing it to respond swiftly to next-generation data center market needs.

Thanks to the robust North American data center business, LS Electric’s performance is also at an all-time high. In the second quarter, LS Electric reported sales of 1.577 trillion won and an operating profit of 178.5 billion won, achieving its highest-ever quarterly results. North American sales reached about 400 billion won, setting a new quarterly record, while the total accumulated order amount surpassed 7 trillion won, demonstrating a solid growth foundation.
