The city council plans to deliberate on key issues directly related to citizens' daily lives, such as social welfare, urban planning, safety, and public administration.
In particular, from the 15th to the 23rd, the council will conduct an administrative affairs audit to review major projects and the overall administration of the executive branch, and to propose improvements.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Park Doohyung stated, "As every agenda item is directly tied to the livelihood of our citizens, we will review them thoroughly and responsibly from the citizens' perspective."
He continued, "The administrative affairs audit is not a venue for merely exposing faults, but for identifying areas for improvement and presenting better alternatives. We will focus more on constructive suggestions for alternatives than criticism or blame, and ask the executive branch to cooperate with sincere submissions of materials and in their responses."
At the first plenary session held on this day, Lee Honggyun, president of the Ganam-eup Village Heads Association, was appointed as the 15th ‘Honorary Chairperson for a Day,’ attending the session and experiencing legislative activities. The 'Honorary Chairperson for a Day' system is operated regularly to expand opportunities for citizens to participate in council affairs.
For the public's right to information, Yeoju City Council also operates both a visitor attendance system for plenary sessions and live internet streaming. Citizens who wish to attend can apply via the council website or in person, and real-time viewing of meeting proceedings is available through the council's website.
