During his visit, Mayor Lee received progress and schedule updates from the staff, reviewed the installation status of the Air Dome and the development of auxiliary facilities, and emphasized that the construction should be completed on time as planned and that there should be no gaps in on-site safety management until completion.
The multipurpose training center is being built with an investment of 12.5 billion won at 13-16 Gowan District 4, Mungok-dong, featuring a 9,129-square-meter Air Dome and 204 square meters of auxiliary facilities. Inside, there will be one full-size soccer field and a two-lane track, along with restrooms, a management office, and other convenience and management facilities.
The main advantage of the Air Dome is that it allows for training and sports activities regardless of weather conditions, such as snow and cold. As the center will offer a stable training environment even in winter, it is anticipated to help attract more off-season training teams and strengthen Taebaek City’s competitiveness in sports marketing.
After completion, not only training teams visiting Taebaek but also local recreational sports groups and residents will be able to enjoy a variety of sports activities in a pleasant environment.
