KOSPI Jumps Over 4%, Nears 7,000 Mark... KOSDAQ Gains Over 1%
The KOSPI surged by more than 4%, coming within striking distance of the 7,000 mark.
On September 7, the KOSPI closed at 6,995.39, climbing 308.18 points (4.61%) from the previous trading day. After finishing at 6,912.37 on August 27, the KOSPI reclaimed the 6,900 level in seven trading days.
By investor type, foreign investors and institutions were net buyers, purchasing 2.587 trillion won and 2.633 trillion won respectively, while individual investors were net sellers, offloading 6.821 trillion won.
Most sectors saw gains. The largest increases were seen in machinery & equipment (+6.60%), electrical & electronics (+6.34%), and manufacturing (+5.17%). Four sectors ended lower: food, beverage & tobacco (-2.47%), real estate (-1.54%), and textiles & apparel (-1.12%).
Among the top 20 stocks by market capitalization, 17 posted gains—including Doosan Enerbility (+10.98%) and SK hynix (+8.26%)—while three saw declines, including Hanwha Aerospace (-1.52%) and Samsung SDI (-1.28%).
The KOSDAQ closed at 822.19, up 8.69 points (1.07%) from the previous session.
By investor category, individuals were net buyers with 186.9 billion won, while foreign investors and institutions were net sellers at 68.9 billion won and 131.2 billion won respectively.
Most sectors ended higher. Non-metallic minerals (+4.46%), medical & precision equipment (+2.82%), and machinery & equipment (+2.41%) recorded gains, whereas paper & wood (-0.97%), IT services (-0.96%), and pharmaceuticals (-0.42%) declined.

Most of the top 20 KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization advanced, with 14 rising—including Jusung Engineering (+4.99%) and HPSP (+4.92%)—while six, such as Pharmaresearch (-2.59%) and Rainbow Robotics (-2.40%), decreased.
