Speaker Jo Jungsik Meets with Vietnam’s Tran Thanh Man: “Parliamentary Exchanges Must Be Strengthened”

On September 7, Chairman of the National Assembly Jo Jung-sik discussed ways to advance the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" between Korea and Vietnam, as well as to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries' parliaments, with Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man.
Chairman Jo held talks with Chairman Tran Thanh Man of the National Assembly of Vietnam in the National Assembly reception room on this day. Chairman Jo stated, "Following the former Speaker of the Korean National Assembly's visit to Vietnam last year, the fact that the speakers from both countries have made reciprocal visits within the span of one year demonstrates the special friendship between Korea and Vietnam." He added, "Since the bilateral relationship was elevated to a 'Comprehensive Strategic Partnership' in 2022, the two countries have developed a close partnership in all areas, including recent reciprocal visits by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Lee Jaemyung, as well as strong cooperation in economic and people-to-people exchanges."

Based on the MOU signed between our two parliaments last year, I hope that exchanges between members, including parliamentary friendship associations, will become even more active."
Chairman Tran Thanh Man of the National Assembly of Vietnam said, "It is an honor to be the first foreign guest to visit since you took office. This is my first visit to Korea as Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam," and added, "This meeting clearly illustrates how much our two countries value the practical and effective development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership."

He continued, "Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the relationship between Vietnam and Korea has achieved remarkable results, benefiting both peoples and businesses across various fields. Vietnam regards Korea as its top strategic partner in all areas of foreign policy, and the National Assembly of Vietnam is ready to work closely with the National Assembly of Korea to further strengthen the bond between our two countries."
