The company aims to go beyond simply brokering overseas stocks, expanding to a service that supports Korean investors’ access to overseas markets while also enabling foreign investors to enter the domestic market.
On September 7, Daol Investment & Securities announced that it has recently launched “DAOL Fi PRO,” entering in earnest into the reinforcement of its global investment services.
DAOL Fi PRO is a global trading platform jointly built with IBKR. It integrates all transaction processes required by traders—including customer identification, unified login, electronic signature, order execution and settlement, as well as fund and ledger management—into a single service. Daol Investment & Securities describes this as Korea’s first outbound commercial model.
A key feature of the platform is that a global trading infrastructure, previously tailored to institutions and professional investors, is now made easily accessible to individual investors as well. Rather than merely relaying orders for overseas stocks or providing investment information through traditional overseas partnerships, the focus is on strengthening trade execution quality and order strategies throughout the entire transaction process.
One of its signature features is IBKR’s smart routing technology. This function compares quotes and liquidity across multiple exchanges and alternative trading systems in real time, determines the optimal route for each order, and dynamically splits or reroutes the order depending on market conditions. In addition to surface-level commissions, the system aims to reduce customers’ trading costs by considering even hidden costs incurred during the ordering and execution process.
With the resumption of overseas stock and ETF investment services, Daol Investment & Securities has set the commission for online trading of U.S. stocks at 0.07%. The company has emphasized its focus on reducing both direct commissions and costs incurred during the order execution process.
The variety of order types offered has also been expanded compared to previous methods. Currently, the company provides eight specialized order types, allowing investors to fine-tune both order price and execution timing according to market conditions and individual strategies. Moving forward, high-level functions such as algorithmic orders will be incorporated, with the plan to ultimately offer more than 26 specialized order types.
Investment information services have also been integrated into the platform. The service offers access to more than 80 global news and research sources, over 5,500 analyst reports, as well as stock charts, corporate information, stock screening, and order functions all in one place. The platform is designed so investors can perform everything from information verification and stock analysis to actual order placement, all within a single environment.
Going forward, Daol Investment & Securities plans to gradually expand the range of target markets and financial products available through the service. The company intends to broaden its investment offerings to cover over 170 global markets via IBKR and will also expand into areas such as derivatives and other financial products. At the same time, concrete plans are underway to develop inbound services enabling foreign investors to access the Korean capital market.
Through these efforts, the goal is to develop DAOL Fi PRO into a bidirectional platform that not only enables Korean investors to enter global markets (“Korea to Global”) but also connects international investors to opportunities in the Korean market (“Global to Korea”).
The two companies have also initiated follow-up discussions to their collaboration. Since September 3, IBKR assembled a visiting delegation including Executive Vice President Stacy Millus to visit Daol Investment & Securities over a three-day period. This visit was aimed at discussing further platform enhancements and additional areas of cooperation following the launch of DAOL Fi PRO.
The delegation attended a business agreement ceremony held on September 3 at Daol Investment & Securities’ Yeouido headquarters. They then visited the Korea Exchange and KOSCOM to examine the domestic capital market infrastructure and reviewed KOSCOM’s Powerbase ledger operational environment, which is integrated with the DAOL Fi PRO platform. Subsequently, they held discussions at the Daol headquarters for platform advancement and further collaborative initiatives.
Byungchul Lee, Chairman of Daol Financial Group, stated, “The fact that two companies with different strengths overcame numerous challenges together to launch a client-focused service means much more than simply unveiling a new initiative. Rather than marking a completion, this launch is a new beginning for our partnership, and I look forward to further developing DAOL Fi PRO and expanding our collaborative growth into new products and markets.”
IBKR, a global electronic brokerage established in 1977, has specialized in electronic trading technology and automation. The company was listed on NASDAQ in the U.S. in 2007 and was included in the S&P 500 Index last year. Its current market capitalization is around 230 trillion won.
In addition to individual investors, IBKR supplies trading services and infrastructure to hedge funds, advisory firms, and financial institutions. The company currently maintains more than five million client accounts in over 170 markets worldwide. It processes over four million trades daily, has customer assets amounting to $903 billion, and a capital base of $22.5 billion. In this year’s StockBrokers.com review, IBKR placed first in both the Professional Trading and International Trading categories.
