Kiwoom Securities Launches Special 5% Pre-tax Fixed-term Note for First-time Account Holders
Subscription Limit Set at 1 Billion Won Per Person
Kiwoom Securities announced on September 7 that it is offering a special fixed-term note product with a one-year maturity and a pre-tax annual interest rate of 5% for customers opening an account for the first time in their lives.
Fixed-term notes are products issued by securities firms designated as comprehensive financial investment business operators with more than 4 trillion won in equity capital. These products are issued on the firm’s own credit and require approval from financial authorities. Kiwoom Securities received approval for fixed-term notes from the Financial Services Commission in November last year and has since launched and managed both demand type and fixed-term type products since December.
This special offering provides a significantly higher interest rate compared to previously launched fixed-term note products by Kiwoom Securities. At the initial launch, the maximum pre-tax annual interest rate was in the mid-3% range, but this special product far exceeds that level. However, to reward as many customers as possible, the subscription limit for the special offer is set at 1 billion won per person.
In addition, customers who open accounts online and apply for the event while maintaining an average balance of at least 10 million won over three months in their special fixed-term note will separately receive fractional shares worth 50,000 won in either Samsung Electronics or SK hynix.
Furthermore, customers opening their first-ever comprehensive online account can receive 50,000 won in cash through Kiwoom Securities’ ongoing online account opening event. By sharing the event link with acquaintances five times, customers can receive an additional 20,000 won in cash, bringing the maximum potential benefit to 120,000 won.
However, if customers fail to meet the detailed requirements for individual benefits or if the budget is exhausted early, the benefits may be limited or the event may end early.
There are also important points to confirm before investing. Unlike deposit or savings products, fixed-term notes are not protected by the Depositor Protection Act; payments of principal and interest rely on the creditworthiness of the issuing company, Kiwoom Securities. Investors should consider both the issuer’s credit rating and its repayment capability.
A representative from Kiwoom Securities stated, “We have designed attractive interest rates and benefits so that customers investing for the first time can take their initial steps with confidence.”
