Mayor Park Seungwon: "Citizens' Safety Is the Top Priority"

The total project cost is KRW 3.5 billion, and the work will be carried out by dismantling the existing retaining wall entirely and installing a new one.
This project is being undertaken in response to the results of a precision safety inspection conducted in January, which rated the right-side retaining wall with reinforced earth on the Chunghundae Bridge access road as Grade D, indicating the need for urgent repair and reinforcement. After consulting with experts, the city decided on a complete reconstruction rather than temporary reinforcement measures.
Due to the construction, the current traffic restrictions in place will be maintained until September of next year. The restricted areas include the two right lanes in the direction of Anyang and a 120-meter section of the sidewalk on the upper road of Chunghundae Bridge (four lanes, two-way traffic), as well as the lower road managed by Anyang City.
During the construction period, the city will deploy traffic guides and encourage reduced speed driving to minimize inconvenience for citizens and prevent safety accidents. In addition, Gwangmyeong City plans to expand regular inspections and maintenance of similar retaining wall facilities within the city.
