Lee Jin-sook Appears for Police Investigation Over Kim Min-seok Lawsuit: "Ruling Party Leader Should Use More Civil Language"
Lee: "Additional Criminal Complaint Against Kim for Calling Me 'Female Chun Doo-hwan'"
Lee Jin-sook, a member of the People Power Party, appeared at the police station on the 6th for an investigation as a plaintiff in a defamation and insult case against Kim Min-seok, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who referred to her as "female Hitler."
On her way to the Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station for the plaintiff investigation, Lee told reporters, "Hitler was an ethnic cleanser who massacred six million Jews," adding, "Is Kim threatening to make sure I can no longer set foot in Korea by comparing me to Hitler?"
On August 15, Kim Min-seok mentioned Lee Jin-sook during the Democratic Party’s joint speech event in Jeonnam and Gwangju, saying, "I will make sure that neither a female Chun Doo-hwan nor a female Hitler can ever set foot in Korea."
On August 26, he also said regarding Lee, "I even thought it would be better to unify and call her 'female Chun Doo-hwan' from now on."
Lee Jin-sook claimed that Kim’s remarks went beyond political criticism and constituted personal attacks and defamation.
Lee protested, "Yes, I held a 5·18 Democratic Movement forum, but did I ever wish for someone around me to die in a way that appears as though they took their own life for no reason, as happened to someone else? Has anyone ever taken their own life because of me?"
Regarding being called "female Chun Doo-hwan," she added, "Today, I plan to file an additional criminal complaint against Kim Min-seok for insult, and I strongly urge that Kim be investigated as the accused as quickly as possible."
