Despite Son Heung-min's 1 Goal and 1 Assist, LAFC Extends Winless Streak to 6 in Regular Season
2-2 Draw at Real Salt Lake Away Match
Son Heung-min Tied for Second in Assists...
5 Goals, 11 Assists in Regular Season
Son Heung-min delivered a stellar performance with one goal and one assist, marking his first offensive points in eight matches across all competitions. However, his team Los Angeles FC (LAFC) failed to secure a win for the sixth consecutive game in the regular season.
On September 6, 2026 (local time), LAFC drew 2-2 in their away match against Real Salt Lake during the 2026 Major League Soccer (MLS) regular season at America First Field in Sandy, Utah, USA.
Son broke his eight-match scoring drought across all competitions by netting his fifth league goal of the season. His MLS regular season tally now stands at 5 goals and 11 assists in 21 matches. Including other competitions like the Concacaf Champions Cup, Son has recorded 7 goals and 18 assists in 32 official appearances this season. With his 11th league assist, Son is now tied for second in assists, trailing only Lionel Messi of Inter Miami, who leads with 12 assists.

Mathieu Choinière intercepted the ball on defense and linked up with Son, who then delivered a precise through pass from beyond the halfway line into space for Bouanga making a forward run. Bouanga, after beating a defender and advancing into the penalty area, scored with a curling right-footed shot.
Real Salt Lake leveled the score at 1-1 just four minutes later with a goal from Saba Lobzhanidze.
However, in the 38th minute of the first half, Son and Bouanga combined once again to put LAFC ahead 2-1, this time with Bouanga assisting Son’s goal.
Bouanga received a long ball from the back, penetrated deep into the penalty area, then cut the ball back for Son, who tapped it in with his left foot from close range. The shot deflected off the opposing goalkeeper’s hand before finding the back of the net.
Although LAFC ended the first half leading 2-1, they conceded an equalizer to Noel Caliskan in the 75th minute of the second half.
In the 87th minute, Son had a decisive chance to score but was denied by a brilliant defensive play. Ryan Hollingshead intercepted a ball in defense and played a penetrating pass to Son up front. After going one-on-one with the goalkeeper and rounding him, Son rolled his shot toward the empty net, but Real Salt Lake defender DeAndre Yedlin made a desperate goal-line clearance to deny the goal.
