During the event, the city received over 50 citizen reports regarding daily inconveniences and suggestions for administrative improvements. This marks the second on-site communication session, following the initial session.
Gimpo Art Village is a leading cultural and artistic venue in Gimpo, hosting exhibitions, performances, and experience programs throughout the year. On weekends, it is frequented by families with children and seniors. The city chose this location for the mobile mayor's office to broadly gather input from citizens regarding culture, leisure, and issues closely connected with their daily lives.
Under the slogan "Citizen's Voice ON, On-Site Communication ON," Mayor Lee sat face-to-face with citizens visiting the Art Village, listening to their everyday inconveniences and policy suggestions. Citizens who felt uncomfortable with in-person consultations were able to write their opinions on post-its and leave them on the citizen suggestion board.
Citizens proposed the following: expanding amenities and rest areas at Modam Park; expanding the utilization of the Art Village exhibition hall; and installing trash bins at bus stops. Additional requests included stricter enforcement against illegal U-turns and overnight parking, as well as relocation of trash collection sites near crosswalks, highlighting further demands for improvements in transportation and environmental management.
Mayor Lee explained the relevant situations on-site and promised to follow up with results after review by the responsible departments.
Citizens met at the site stated, "It was nice to be able to directly share the inconveniences experienced while raising children with the mayor during an outing with my kids," and added, "It builds trust to know we will be informed about how our suggestions are handled."
Mayor Lee said, "Wherever the citizens are, that is the mayor's office," adding, "The 9th popularly elected administration in Gimpo will not pursue one-sided governance, but will move toward a city administration co-created with citizens and capable of confirming positive changes together."
The city of Gimpo plans to classify the suggestions received by type, forward them to the relevant departments, and relay the results of their review. Citizens who provided their names and contact information will be notified of the outcome via text message.
