Samsung DX Union Plans Rally in Front of Lee Jae-yong's Home: "Resolve Compensation Disparities"
Donghaeng Union to Stage Rallies and Solo Protests from the 18th
Demands Include 1,000 Company Shares Per Employee
The Samsung Electronics Labor Union Donghaeng (hereinafter referred to as the Donghaeng Union), which is mainly composed of employees from the Device eXperience (DX) division responsible for finished products such as home appliances, is planning a rally in front of the residence of Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, to demand the resolution of compensation disparities.
On the 16th, members of the Samsung Electronics Labor Union Donghaeng (Donghaeng Union) shouted slogans in front of the Samsung Electronics Suwon Plant in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, protesting against the performance bonus gap. Photo by Yonhap News.

An official from the Donghaeng Union told Yonhap News and other media, "There is no set end date, and we intend to continue for the long term," adding, "On days when we cannot officially register the rally, we will conduct solo protests instead."
The Donghaeng Union claims that during wage negotiations last May, the DX division was marginalized, and that the gap in compensation with the Device Solutions (DS) division, which handles the semiconductor business, is excessive.
The Donghaeng Union’s demands include: ▲ Distribution of 1,000 shares of company stock per DX division employee ▲ Establishment and distribution of a common pool based on a fixed proportion of company-wide performance ▲ Uniform application of the basic salary increase rate (base-up) across the entire company.
Previously, on August 21, the union also held a rally near the Samsung Electronics Seocho office in Gangnam District, claiming that the worsening profitability was due to management’s failures and urging better communication with management.

In the business community, there are criticisms that it is unreasonable for the DX division, currently facing a management crisis, to demand 1,000 shares of company stock per employee. Some point out that, following the government’s mediation and the conclusion of wage negotiations between labor and management, the belated collective action lacks justification.
