YouTuber Suspected of Manipulating Party Convention Survey Files Police Complaint Against Minseok Kim
Allegations of Personal Information Protection Act Violation and Defamation

Jongwon Lee, a political YouTuber under suspicion of manipulating the opinions survey for the August 17 Democratic Party of Korea National Convention, has revealed his membership in the party and filed a police complaint against Minseok Kim, President of the Democratic Party of Korea, who ordered an emergency inspection.
On September 4, Lee announced that he had filed the complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Public Crime Investigation Unit, alleging violations of the Personal Information Protection Act and defamation against President Kim.
Lee claimed that President Kim, in the course of his official duties, had disclosed Lee's party membership status on social networking services (SNS) without his consent, arguing that this constituted the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information.
On August 30, President Kim posted on his own SNS, "In connection with the controversy over opinion survey manipulation, I have verified that Mr. Lee is a party member and issued a special order instructing the Ethics Inspection Team to carry out an emergency inspection and report whether emergency disciplinary measures are necessary."
Previously, the Democratic Party of Korea had filed a report with the police, alleging that Lee had exploited the sample allocation method in the opinion survey, encouraging viewers to participate by posing as respondents from certain regions or age groups.

Lee is currently under investigation for allegedly encouraging viewers during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel on August 14–15 to respond to the public opinion poll on the approval ratings of party leader candidates for the Democratic Party of Korea National Convention by providing false information about their place of residence and age.
