KB Securities Launches Personal Government Bonds Trading Service for Retirement Pension Accounts
Investing in Personal Government Bonds via DC and IRP Accounts
"Expanding Retirement Pension Investment Options"
On September 4, KB Securities announced the launch of a new trading service that allows individuals to directly invest in personal government bonds through retirement pension accounts (DC and IRP).
The personal government bonds for retirement pension accounts is a newly introduced system that enables individual investors to invest in 10-year and 20-year personal government bonds via their retirement pension accounts. Personal government bonds are savings-type government bonds introduced to diversify the demand base for government bonds and to support individuals in building stable, long-term assets. With this new initiative, KB Securities expects that retirement pension customers will have an even wider range of options for managing their retirement assets.
In line with the implementation of the new system, KB Securities has established the relevant infrastructure in advance and started offering the trading service from September 4.
The personal government bonds for retirement pension accounts are available in 10-year and 20-year maturities and are generally issued on the 20th of every month. Subscriptions are accepted for seven business days prior to the issuance date. If the issuance date falls on a non-business day, the bonds will be issued on the preceding business day.
The first subscription period will take place from September 9 to September 15, with the bonds scheduled to be issued on September 18. Subscriptions can be made by visiting a KB Securities branch or through the MTS "KB M-able (Marble)" application.
If held to maturity, interest is applied on an annual compound basis, combining the coupon rate with additional interest. Early redemption is permitted after one year from purchase. However, if the legal criteria are met, early redemption is possible even within a year. In such cases, simple interest based on the coupon rate only, without the additional interest, will be applied for early redemption.
KB Securities plans to further support customers in constructing diversified pension portfolios tailored to their investment profiles and retirement timelines by adding personal government bonds to its existing lineup of retirement pension products. The company is also continuously improving its services to help customers more conveniently check and manage their pension assets, such as by integrating real-time ETF prices across the pension-related user interfaces.
