KOSPI Surges Past 6,660 Led by Strength in Semiconductors and IT Stocks
KOSDAQ Gains on Robot and Semiconductor Equipment Shares
The domestic stock market is on the rise, supported by simultaneous buying from foreign investors and institutions.
As of 10:21 a.m. on September 4, 2026, the KOSPI index is trading at 6,668.65, up 89.17 points (1.36%) from the previous trading day. The index began the day at 6,654.36, an increase of 74.88 points (1.14%) from the prior session, and has since expanded its gains. Foreign investors and institutional investors have been net buyers of KRW 258.2 billion and KRW 582.8 billion, respectively, leading the index higher. In contrast, individual investors are net sellers of KRW 1.162 trillion.

View original imageBy industry, significant gains are seen in electrical and electronics (2.20%), manufacturing (1.75%), machinery and equipment (1.73%), IT services (1.68%), medical precision instruments (1.52%), and telecommunications (1.46%). Meanwhile, insurance (-2.82%), distribution (-1.96%), electric and gas utilities (-1.27%), non-metallic minerals (-1.20%), food & beverage and tobacco (-1.07%), and pharmaceuticals (-0.88%) are declining.
Among large-cap stocks by market capitalization, notable strength is observed in major semiconductor shares. SK hynix (2.94%), Samsung Electro-Mechanics (2.45%), Samsung Electronics Preferred (2.12%), SK Square (1.94%), SK Inc. (1.83%), Samsung Electronics (1.70%), and Samsung SDI (1.58%) are all on the rise. On the other hand, Samsung C&T (-3.36%), KB Financial Group (-2.53%), Shinhan Financial Group (-1.92%), Samsung Biologics (-1.49%), and LG Energy Solution (-0.96%) are falling.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is also continuing its upward trend, trading at 800.82, up 10.61 points (1.34%) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ started the day at 802.32, an increase of 12.11 points (1.53%) from the prior session. In the KOSDAQ market, foreign investors and institutions are net buyers of KRW 83.7 billion and KRW 46.8 billion, respectively, while individuals are net sellers of KRW 118.8 billion.

Among top KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization, Robotis is seeing a sharp increase of 19.92%. EO Technics (4.90%), WONIK IPS (4.57%), Rainbow Robotics (4.24%), HLB (3.35%), Jusung Engineering (3.21%), LIG ChemBio (3.06%), Peptron (2.73%), ISC (2.68%), Padu (2.28%) are also posting gains. Conversely, Simtek (-4.00%), HPSP (-1.49%) are experiencing weakness.
