Government Provides Relief Supplies Worth 130 Million Won to Nepal
The government will provide an additional 130 million won worth of emergency relief supplies to assist residents affected by the massive floods in Nepal.

View original imageAccording to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 4, the government has decided to send 36,000 emergency thermal blankets and 2,320 insulated blankets, among other relief items worth a total of 130 million won, to Nepal. These supplies are scheduled to arrive in the country on September 5 via a commercial flight.
Immediately after the floods occurred, on August 27, the government also announced a humanitarian aid package worth 1 million dollars for Nepal. The aid funds are being used to provide drinking water, first aid and hygiene kits, and basic health supplies to affected residents through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

Search efforts also continue locally for nine Koreans who remain unaccounted for. The Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT), which was dispatched on September 1, has set up a base camp in Battar and launched full-scale rescue operations in collaboration with the Nepalese army starting the previous day. The government has also dispatched two police officers to Nepal along with four rapid DNA analyzers to support equipment operation, while consulting with the Nepalese authorities on mobile phone signal analysis. As of now, the whereabouts of the nine missing individuals have still not been confirmed.
