'Hyundai KOICA NextGen' is a project conducted by Hyundai Motor Company in conjunction with KOICA’s Inclusive Business Solution (IBS) program. Its goal is to improve the environment for automotive maintenance technology education in Ghana and to expand employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for local youth.

Under this project, Hyundai Motor Company and KOICA will jointly invest a total of 5 billion won over five years by 2030, with a 1:1 matching investment structure. The local implementation will be managed by the international relief and development NGO Plan International Korea and Plan International Ghana.

Specifically, Hyundai Motor Company and KOICA will establish and operate two automotive maintenance technology training centers in Ghana, each equipped with a hands-on training workshop. Construction of the centers will begin in the second half of this year, with completion scheduled for 2027. The goal is to lay a foundation that will allow these centers to operate as sustainable and self-reliant hubs for maintenance technology education at the local level.

In line with the rapid growth of the Ghanaian automotive industry, the project will also enhance the curricula of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions to ensure they adequately reflect current industrial trends. This will include updating courses that have been centered on internal combustion engine vehicles, as well as adding programs focused on maintenance technologies for future vehicles such as hybrid and electric vehicles.

The newly developed curriculum will receive official certification from the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) of Ghana and will be used to train specialized personnel who can adapt to the evolving automotive industry.

Additionally, Hyundai Motor Company and KOICA will support local youth in employment and entrepreneurship by offering scholarships and internship opportunities, holding a job fair once a year, and providing entrepreneurship education and consulting services. Through these efforts, a support system will be established that covers the entire process from education to employment and entrepreneurship, contributing to the stable cultivation of local automotive maintenance personnel and reinforcing industry competitiveness.

Through the 'Hyundai KOICA NextGen' project, Hyundai Motor Company and KOICA will directly support a total of 405 local youths and teachers. Furthermore, by having participating teachers disseminate their expertise at the local level, the project is expected to provide more young people with high-quality training opportunities in automotive maintenance technology.

A Hyundai Motor Company official stated, "We hope that the 'Hyundai KOICA NextGen' project will broaden employment and self-reliance opportunities for young people in Ghana," adding, "Hyundai Motor Company will continue to foster technology talent development initiatives to enhance the competitiveness of the automotive industry going forward."

Starting with the Ghana project, Hyundai Motor Company plans to expand 'Hyundai NextGen' to various countries. By partnering with local organizations, the company aims to support maintenance technology education and specialist training tailored to the automotive industries and educational needs of each nation, thereby contributing to the global development of the automotive sector and the creation of youth employment opportunities.

Meanwhile, in January 2022, Hyundai Motor Company announced its global Creating Shared Value (CSV) initiative 'Hyundai Continue,' which focuses on three main areas: eco-friendliness, mobility, and the next generation. The company continues to carry out diverse activities both in Korea and overseas as part of its pursuit of sustainable management.
