As part of customer compensation, TVING plans to offer a security insurance product covering up to KRW 3 million for cases such as cyber financial fraud, along with providing TVING points worth KRW 5,000 and other rewards.
On September 3, at Koreana Hotel in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, TVING held a press briefing regarding the cybersecurity incident and, in a formal apology, announced its new information security investment plan and customer compensation package.
Choi Juhee, CEO of TVING, stated, “We humbly accept the findings of the joint public-private investigation and sincerely apologize for the concern and anxiety this breach has caused our customers.” She added, “We will responsibly implement measures to prevent recurrence in order to regain our customers’ trust.”
In response to the incident, TVING will completely overhaul its security framework. The company aims to increase investment in information protection and security personnel, and will rebuild its security system based on zero-trust principles. Additionally, it will redefine organizational governance and security culture while enhancing expertise through external collaboration.
First, TVING will significantly expand investment in information protection and recruit more security professionals. The company plans to increase investment in information security to approximately four times the amount of the previous five years by 2030, thereby reinforcing its internal security capabilities. The security organization will be divided into product security, cloud security, enterprise IT security, and compliance security systems, with specialized personnel to be increased to three times the current level over the next five years.
The core principle of security will also be completely upgraded to zero-trust. Authentication and access control processes will be unified into a company-wide security standard system, requiring tiered validation at every step. Access rights will be strictly standardized so that only the minimum necessary authority is granted according to roles and duties.
Furthermore, TVING will segment and isolate systems and network domains to counter potential internal threats and will further tighten the protection of sensitive information such as personal data. By strengthening AI-based intelligent detection and real-time automated response systems, TVING aims to immediately block and isolate any detected risks, thereby enhancing its overall security posture.

Under the CEO-CISO and Chief Privacy Officer system, a practical security council will be established to implement swift and consistent response protocols. This will foster a virtuous cycle from issue identification to decision-making, execution, and inspections. Regular job-specific security training and hands-on simulations will be instituted to ensure all employees actively participate in security.
Finally, TVING will establish an objective verification framework through external security experts. Reporting directly to the CEO, the “Information Security Innovation Advisory Committee” will be launched to strengthen multidimensional validation and ongoing advisory on policies and systems, continually enhancing the company’s security policy and technological framework.
To restore customer trust and prevent further losses, TVING will provide a compensation package including: (i) insurance against hacking and phishing, (ii) upgrade to premium viewing environment, (iii) TVING points, and (iv) entertainment coupons.
The insurance will be offered for one year and will cover up to KRW 3 million per individual for damages from cyber financial fraud stemming from hacking/phishing, as well as internet shopping scams and peer-to-peer transaction fraud. In addition, customers will automatically be upgraded to the premium viewing environment without the need for a separate application.
TVING will grant KRW 5,000 in TVING points, which can be used for purchases of the latest movies and other content. Customers may also choose an entertainment coupon: either a one-month Wavve AVOD (advertising video-on-demand) subscription (KRW 5,500) or a CGV combo discount coupon (KRW 5,000 off for three combo options).
