Shinhan Financial Group Launches Refund Program of up to 3 Million Won for Diligent Young Borrowers
Shinhan Financial Group announced on September 3, 2026, that it will officially launch a program to return part of the repayment amount to young customers who have diligently repaid their loans.
This initiative utilizes 20 billion won from the 100 billion won that Shinhan Financial has made as additional contributions to the Smile Microcredit Foundation. The purpose of the program is to help young borrowers who demonstrate responsible repayment to establish a foundation for independence. Applications will be accepted by the Shinhan Smile Microcredit Foundation starting September 4, 2026.
The support targets customers who have received youth loans (including Youth Future Link and Youth Business Fund) from the Shinhan Smile Microcredit Foundation since April 1, 2026, and are making repayments without any delinquencies. At the end of each quarter, applicants’ repayment status will be checked; up to 300,000 won per installment can be provided for up to 10 times, totaling as much as 3 million won in support. Refunds will begin on October 12, 2026, and subsequent payments will be made on the 10th of the month following each quarter’s close.
Shinhan Financial Group expects about 10,000 people to benefit from the program over the course of roughly eight years or until the funds are exhausted.

Jin Ok-dong, Chairman of Shinhan Financial Group, stated, "Many young people who receive loans through the Shinhan Smile Microcredit Foundation face significant barriers in accessing first-tier banks. We wanted to make sure that their efforts to repay their loans do not end with the loan itself, but rather help them to accumulate assets on their own by returning some of that effort in the form of tangible support."
