Q2 Global Semiconductor Equipment Sales Reach KRW 55 Trillion, Marking All-Time High for Second Consecutive Quarter
SEMI Report Released
Up 23% Year-on-Year, 11% Quarter-on-Quarter
Broad-Based Demand Growth in Asia, North America, and Europe
It has been found that global semiconductor equipment sales have surpassed $40 billion, setting an all-time record. Analysts attribute the growth of the semiconductor equipment market to intensifying artificial intelligence (AI) arms races among the world’s largest technology companies, which are driving the need for advanced manufacturing capabilities.
On September 3, Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), which represents the global electronics industry supply chain, announced through its Worldwide Semiconductor Equipment Market Statistics (WWSEMS) report that worldwide semiconductor equipment sales in the second quarter of this year reached $40.53 billion (approximately KRW 55 trillion). This marks an increase of 23% compared to the same period last year and an 11% rise from the previous quarter.
The Worldwide Semiconductor Equipment Market Statistics report is compiled based on data submitted by SEMI member companies and the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ), aggregating monthly sales figures from the global semiconductor equipment industry.
This performance represents a new all-time high for the second consecutive quarter and underscores accelerating demand for advanced technologies and production capacity solutions to build up AI computing infrastructure. With steady growth in semiconductor equipment investments across key regions such as Asia, North America, and Europe, market expansion driven by the growth of the AI ecosystem is becoming increasingly apparent.
