HK Enters TSMC Supply Chain... Completes Equipment Delivery to Primary Vendors in Taiwan
HK, a domestic laser processing equipment specialist, has entered the Taiwanese supply chain of TSMC, the world’s largest semiconductor foundry. By supplying equipment to three primary local vendors in Taiwan, HK has secured a reference point within the global semiconductor value chain.
On September 3, HK announced that it has completed delivery of laser processing machines to three primary vendors of TSMC in Taiwan.
The supplied equipment was provided to two companies specializing in semiconductor inspection equipment and one company involved in fab construction. While these firms are not direct business partners of TSMC, HK has expanded its business base within the global semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem by supplying equipment to companies in TSMC’s supply chain.
The Taiwanese semiconductor equipment market is known for its intense competition among global companies, including those from the United States and Japan. HK stated that, through this supply achievement, it has proven the performance and quality competitiveness of its laser processing machines in the equipment selection process of major local players.
The expansion of TSMC’s production capacity to meet the growing demand for advanced semiconductors driven by the growth of the artificial intelligence market is also expected to create opportunities for HK. Investments are continuing not only in advanced process and packaging production facilities but also in infrastructure and manufacturing equipment needed for new fab construction.
TSMC is expanding its advanced process investments primarily in Taiwan, while also establishing overseas production bases in the United States and Japan. As a result, demand for equipment targeting the local supply chain is also likely to increase.
HK plans to accelerate its expansion into overseas semiconductor markets, such as the United States and Japan, based on this Taiwanese supply reference. HK believes that if TSMC continues to expand its global production network, the supply track record secured in Taiwan can be leveraged to broaden its business scope into overseas supply chains.
According to industry sources, TSMC has recently decided to invest an additional 42 trillion won in advanced process, packaging enhancement, and semiconductor fab construction. This marks the third capital expenditure approval this year; with previously approved investments combined, the cumulative investment scale approaches 150 trillion won.
