Comprehensive Investigation of Delay Factors at 325 Residential PF Sites in the Greater Seoul Area
Financial Supervisory Service Holds Meeting with Financial Institutions to Accelerate Housing Supply
Expedited Sale to Be Promoted If No Means of Normalization Found
The Financial Supervisory Service announced that, as a follow-up measure to the 8·13 Policy, it held a meeting on September 3 with financial industry officials to promote the rapid supply of housing.
During the meeting, participants reviewed recent trends in housing construction and discussed customized on-site support measures through close management of residential project financing (PF) sites in the greater Seoul area.
The Financial Supervisory Service stated that, in cooperation with the financial sector, it will assign dedicated personnel to each of the 325 residential PF sites in the metropolitan area, which are expected to begin construction or be completed next year. The agency will conduct a comprehensive investigation of factors causing project delays, and classify sites into four management categories: normal progress, supply acceleration, normalization support, and sale inducement.
In particular, for sites subject to close management, all potential causes of project delay will be thoroughly identified. The Financial Supervisory Service plans to support smooth housing supply by coordinating with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, related agencies, and financial institutions. If it is determined that there are no effective means of normalization other than a sale, the agency will actively encourage the resumption of projects through expedited disposals.
Through this meeting, the Financial Supervisory Service shared with the financial sector the plan for the close management of PF sites, which centers on these key measures.
Hyukjun Lee, head of division at NICE Investors Service, commented, "It is a time for selective policy responses, such as expanding supply in metropolitan areas where project viability is high and housing demand is strong."
