LS Electric Joins Hands with KT Cloud to Target AI Data Center Infrastructure
Joint Research on Power Solutions for Modular Data Centers
Supply of Key Equipment Including Ultra-High Voltage Transformers and GIS
LS Electric is joining forces with KT Cloud, a specialist in cloud and data center services, to actively target the rapidly growing artificial intelligence (AI) data center infrastructure market.
LS Electric announced on September 3 that it had signed a "Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Establishing a Strategic Partnership on AI Data Centers" with KT Cloud at LS Yongsan Tower in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, the previous day. The signing ceremony was attended by key executives from both companies, including Dae-Seok Chae, CEO of LS Electric, and Bong-Gyun Kim, CEO of KT Cloud, who discussed avenues for cooperation.

Modular data centers refer to an approach where standardized server rooms, power supply networks, and cooling modules are precisely manufactured in a factory and then assembled and installed onsite. This method significantly reduces construction time compared to traditional reinforced concrete building techniques, while also enabling flexible infrastructure expansion in response to rising power demands.
LS Electric plans to supply key power equipment—including ultra-high voltage transformers, gas insulated switchgear (GIS), and power distribution panels—on schedule for new AI data center projects initiated by KT Cloud. In addition, the company aims to gradually expand the range of supplied items to include uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and air conditioning systems in the future.
Recently, LS Electric has proven its delivery competitiveness in the global power infrastructure market by consecutively securing contracts to provide ultra-high voltage transformers and high-voltage distribution systems for hyperscale AI data centers pursued by major North American big tech firms.
