IRGC: Oil Tankers Under US Control Explode in Minefield While Using Illegal Routes
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced on September 2 (local time) that two oil tankers operating in violation of regulations and using illegal routes had been destroyed by a mine explosion.
In a statement, the IRGC claimed, "A few hours ago, two oil tankers, whose crews had disembarked on the orders of the US military and were passing through illegal routes under the control of US officials, entered a minefield, where they exploded and are currently engulfed in flames."
The statement continued, "Previously, our navy warned of the dangers of crossing the minefields," and added, "We are planning even stricter punishments for shipping companies that fall for US deception and hand over their vessels to the enemy by not following legitimate routes, and these will be implemented soon."
The IRGC strongly condemned the US, referencing the previous day's attack by US forces on a wedding hall in southern Iran. "Last night, the US terrorist military once again enacted the same intimidation scenario it has used whenever it invades other countries to demonstrate brutality and instill fear in the public," it said.
