A total of 35 founding members, including doctors, dentists, nurses, and public health experts, participated in its formation. Professor So Yoonsoo from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Kyung Hee University Hospital was appointed as managing director, and Professor Kim Namhee from Yonsei University Wonju College of Nursing was named as academic director.
Intrinsic capacity refers to the physical and mental capabilities that enable individuals to carry out activities they consider valuable. In the 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), a reduction in intrinsic capacity due to aging is listed under the diagnostic code MG2A.
The society plans to form a special committee to develop a standard model for frailty prevention to support integrated care. It will also conduct multidisciplinary research in various fields, including basic research on frailty, intrinsic capacity, healthy longevity, and healthcare devices.
