KOSDAQ Recoups 1%
The KOSPI index opened with a 3% decline. Although the KOSDAQ also started with a drop of over 2%, it later recovered by 1 percentage point.
As of 9:26 a.m. on September 2, 2026, at the Korea Exchange, the KOSPI was trading at 6,680.63, down 2.27% from the previous session. The KOSPI index opened at 6,625.47, down 3.08% from the previous close.
Foreign investors and institutions made net sales of 302.9 billion won and 327.6 billion won, respectively. By contrast, individual investors made net purchases totaling 511.6 billion won.
By sector, except for medical & precision instruments, which rose by 0.66%, all others were in decline. Transportation equipment & parts dropped 3.39%, followed by construction (-2.77%), electrical & electronic (-2.67%), manufacturing (-2.57%), and machinery & equipment (-2.45%).
As the US-Iran conflict escalated again and the New York Stock Exchange fell for three consecutive trading days, the domestic KOSPI also started with a decline of over 3%. On the other hand, Samsung SDS fell 4.6%, Hyundai Mobis (-4.4%), SK (-4.1%), SK Square (-4%), and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (-4%) all posted losses. Samsung Electronics and SK hynix dropped by 2.7% and 2.3%, respectively.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was trading at 812.46, down 1.07% from the previous session. The KOSDAQ had opened at 802.8, a decline of 2.25% from the previous close.
While institutions recorded net sales of 39.9 billion won, foreigners and individual investors posted net purchases of 19.9 billion won and 20.2 billion won, respectively.

Market capitalization leaders were mixed. Seojin System declined 4.3%, while TES (-3.9%), Caregen (-3.3%), Peptron (-3.1%), and OliX (-3.1%) also fell. In contrast, ISC rose 4%, while SM Entertainment (3.9%), Hana Micron (2.2%), and Alteogen (1.9%) saw gains.
