Satoshi Holdings Joins x402 Foundation for AI Payment Ecosystem with Visa and Google
KOSDAQ-listed company Satoshi Holdings is joining the artificial intelligence (AI) agent payment ecosystem, which features participation from global financial and big tech companies such as Visa and Google. The company also plans to gradually adopt the related standards within its proprietary stablecoin payment platform, 'Bitpal', in an effort to target the next-generation payment market.
On September 2, Satoshi Holdings announced its entry into the 'x402 Foundation', an open payment standard organization for AI agents. This makes Satoshi Holdings the fourth domestic company to join, following KakaoPay, Galaxia Moneytree, and Hecto Financial.
The x402 Foundation operates as an open governance organization under the umbrella of the non-profit, open-source Linux Foundation. The initial x402 protocol was developed by crypto exchange Coinbase, with companies such as Cloudflare and Stripe participating in the early ecosystem building. The foundation aims to establish HTTP-based open payment standards, enabling AI agents and applications to conduct payments on the internet.
Currently, more than 50 companies are members, including the global top three card firms—Visa, Mastercard, and American Express—as well as Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Shopify, Circle, Ripple, the Solana Foundation, the Monad Foundation, and MoonPay.
The core of x402 is to allow AI agents to make payments based on pre-set conditions, even without direct human intervention in the payment process. While traditional online payments require the user to open a payment window and press a button, x402 standardizes payment protocols so that AI agents can select products or services and complete transactions autonomously.
By joining the foundation, Satoshi Holdings plans to strengthen its connections with next-generation digital payment ecosystems—including AI agent payments and stablecoins.
Notably, the company will gradually apply the x402 standard to 'Bitpal', its stablecoin payment platform, which launched open beta service on August 4. Satoshi Holdings intends to integrate relevant standards into Bitpal's software development kit (SDK) and application programming interface (API) to address the growing demand for AI agent-based payments.
Currently, Bitpal supports seven major mainnets: Base, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Solana, Tron, Polygon, and Klaytn. Since August 20, Bitpal has further broadened its scope by adding 'JPYC', a stablecoin linked to the Japanese yen, as a payment asset.
Should legislation and institutionalization of a KRW-based stablecoin advance in the future, Satoshi Holdings will expand its service coverage following rigorous technical and compliance reviews and verification by blockchain. The company aims to cater to both global users and the emerging demand for AI agent-driven payments.
A Satoshi Holdings representative stated, "As the agentic commerce market grows—where AI agents can search for, purchase, and pay for products and services—the need for suitable payment infrastructure becomes increasingly important. We will proactively implement the x402 standard in Bitpal to enhance our technological competitiveness within the next-generation payment ecosystem."
