TPC Robotics Launches Seven Actuators for Humanoids, Targets Performance Turnaround in Second Half
TPC Robotics, a specialist in AI autonomous manufacturing and robotic components, is set to expand its robotics business by launching its own brand of actuators, which are core components for humanoid robots. In the second half of the year, the company will also begin full-scale supply of linear motors for mobile display manufacturing equipment, aiming for both business expansion and improved performance.
On September 2, TPC Robotics announced the launch of seven proprietary actuator products designed for humanoid robots. The lineup includes three rotary (rotational) actuators, three linear (straight) actuators, and one robotic finger joint module.
The rotary actuators are used in the neck, elbow, and hip joints of humanoid robots. The linear actuators are applied to areas subject to relatively heavy loads, such as the calves, thighs, and elbows. By expanding its product range to include a finger joint module, the company has secured a lineup that encompasses the key drive components of humanoid robots.
TPC Robotics will offer these products to domestic and international humanoid robot manufacturers and equipment companies. The company plans to expand its sales using its existing distribution network and partner companies accumulated from its automation business.
Previously, in May, TPC Robotics signed a strategic cooperative agreement with HCbot, a humanoid robot company in Zhejiang, China, for the joint development and production of actuator and related core robot components, including technology transfer. The company has since established an "AI Autonomous Manufacturing Research Lab" to strengthen its robotics-related operations.
New orders that will drive performance improvement in the second half of the year are also underway. TPC Robotics is proceeding with a project to supply linear motors worth approximately 5 billion won to a global automation company in the second half of this year. In August, it secured an initial order and samples worth about 600 million won, which will be delivered in September. The remaining units will be supplied sequentially according to the project schedule.
These linear motors are exclusively used in the latest mobile display manufacturing equipment and will be entirely exported to Vietnam. According to the company, its subsidiary directly develops and produces them, securing cost competitiveness.
TPC Robotics experienced losses in the first half of the year due to intensified market competition, but now expects a turnaround in the second half by focusing on the robotics and linear motor businesses. The company aims to make a full-scale entry into the humanoid robot market and expand linear motor supply for semiconductor and display equipment, with the goal of turning a profit for the full year.
