AI Synthetic Consumer Company Intellisia Secures KRW 3.4 Billion Pre-Series A Funding
Artificial intelligence (AI) synthetic consumer technology startup Intellisia has successfully secured pre-Series A funding, marking a step forward in technology investment.
Intellisia announced on the 2nd that it had raised pre-Series A funding of 3.4 billion won. This round was led by Kakao Ventures, with co-investment from Murex Partners and Capstone Partners, while company founder and CEO Seungkuk Baek also participated in the investment himself.
Intellisia operates an AI research platform, TheSurvey.ai, in which an AI trained on actual consumer data generates 'synthetic consumers'—virtual entities in the hundreds of thousands—to respond to surveys and interviews. The technology shortens the typical consumer research process, which previously took weeks or months, to just a few hours by eliminating the need to recruit thousands of panelists. It also enables repeated validation as needed, fundamentally accelerating the speed of decision-making in new product development and marketing, and has attracted significant attention for this capability.
Intellisia has accumulated more case studies than any other domestic company by conducting over 130 client projects and comparative proof-of-concept (PoC) studies with major Korean firms, including CJ CheilJedang, Pulmuone, Lotte Wellfood, Fursys Group, LG Uplus, and BGF Retail. More than 60% of clients who progressed to PoC studies converted to paid annual contracts. The Intellisia AI engine currently achieves an average recall rate—measuring the similarity between actual human survey responses and AI-generated answers—of over 90%.
This funding will be primarily used to establish a technological moat that cannot be matched by competitors or open-source models. Intellisia aims to raise the recall rate of multinational panels, excluding Korea, to the 95% level, as well as achieve 'replication of various market indicators,' such as consumer pre-preference and sales forecasting.
At the same time, Intellisia is investing in the launch of a global SaaS platform in the fourth quarter of this year, with plans to make a full-fledged entry into advanced research markets such as the United States and Japan next year. The company is also working on broadening its services from research to simulation. Its digital twin solution, 'ParaStore,' which allows synthetic consumers to shop in AI-powered stores, is about to be tested in partnership with BGF Retail, operator of the convenience store CU. Through this, Intellisia plans to expand its business into a broader range of simulation domains, including product planning, display, and store operations, beyond consumer research alone.
