[Weather] Thunder and Lightning Showers Up to 40mm Expected Through the Day After Tomorrow
In the Gwangju and Jeollanam-do regions, a heat wave advisory and tropical nights are expected to continue, with up to 40mm of showers forecast through the day after tomorrow.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on September 1, a heat wave advisory is currently in effect for all areas of Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, except for Nakwol-myeon in Yeonggwang, mountainous areas in Gurye, and Yeoseo Island in Wando. Tropical nights, when the overnight minimum temperature remains above 25 degrees Celsius, are also expected to persist. A tropical night advisory has been issued for major cities and counties in Jeollanam-do, including Gwangju (east and west districts), Yeosu, Suncheon, Gwangyang, Mokpo, and Naju.

On the evening of this day, 5 to 40 mm of showers are expected in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do. On September 2, rain of 5 to 40 mm is forecast between midday and late afternoon.
On September 3, between midday and late afternoon, 5 to 40 mm of showers are expected mainly in the eastern areas of Jeollanam-do.
In areas experiencing showers, there may be gusty winds, thunder, and lightning. Due to the localized nature of showers, even within the same area, there may be significant differences in rainfall amounts.
Even with rain, the sweltering heat is not expected to ease. For the time being, temperatures will remain higher than the seasonal averages (lows of 19 to 22 degrees Celsius, highs of 28 to 30 degrees Celsius), and with high humidity, the maximum perceived temperature is forecast to reach around 33 degrees Celsius, resulting in oppressively hot conditions.
