26% of MCIA Special Appointment Applicants Withdraw, 1,761 Confirmed
615 Prosecutors and Investigators Withdraw Applications
A total of 615 prosecutors and investigators who had applied for special recruitment at the Serious Crime Investigation Agency (SCIA), which is set to launch next month, have withdrawn their applications.
According to the SCIA establishment preparation task force at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on September 1, the final number of applicants for special recruitment from prosecutors and investigators belonging to the Prosecutors’ Office was confirmed at 1,761 following withdrawal procedures. This means that 25.9% of the original applicants withdrew their applications.

View original imagePreviously, the task force announced that applications for special recruitment from prosecution personnel were accepted from August 7 to 20, resulting in 2,375 applicants. With one additional applicant subsequently counted, the final tally of initial applicants was 2,376.
The preparation task force plans to select the final candidates for appointment this month, taking into consideration their preferred locations, experience, and expertise. Career-based competitive recruitment is also being conducted for police officers, lawyers, accountants, and patent attorneys. In addition, further special recruitment of government employees from the Prosecutors’ Office (Prosecution Service) will be pursued. The deadline for additional special recruitment is April 30 next year.

Starting from October 2, the SCIA will investigate seven major crime categories—including corruption, economic crimes, defense acquisition crimes, drug offenses, crimes related to treason and foreign exchange, crimes endangering national security, cybercrimes, and legal distortion offenses—with a total of 2,567 investigators and 307 general administrative staff, making a combined workforce of 2,874 personnel.
