World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (USA) has risen to the top by prioritizing accuracy in his game.

On August 31 (KST), he claimed a come-from-behind victory at the final event of the PGA Tour Playoffs (PO), the Tour Championship (total prize money: 40 million dollars), held at East Lake Golf Club (par 70, 7,440 yards) in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

This was Scheffler’s third win of the season and 22nd career victory, following his triumph at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first PO event, on August 17. He also reclaimed the FedEx Cup champion title after two years since 2024. With the winner’s prize of 10 million dollars (approximately 13.8 billion won), Scheffler became the PGA Tour’s career prize money leader, totaling 130,396,610 dollars.

Scheffler completed a dramatic comeback, starting the final round tied for third place, three shots behind the leader. He recorded six birdies and two bogeys in the round. He picked up momentum with consecutive birdies on the 2nd and 4th holes and quickly erased a bogey on the 7th hole with a birdie on the 8th hole (both par 4). In the back nine, he celebrated his victory by making birdies on the 10th, 13th, and 16th holes.

His shot accuracy and green play stood out on the final day. He achieved a greens-in-regulation rate of 83.33% (1st place), creating numerous birdie opportunities. His average putts per hole was 1.60 (tied for 5th), which was also impressive. In his post-Tour Championship interview, Scheffler said, “There were tournaments this year where I missed out on wins I should have had, but I approached the playoffs determined to deliver my best performance yet.”
