Democratic Party TV Led by Minseok Kim Launches First Broadcast in Same Timeslot as Kim Eo-jun
From Daily Minjoo to Expanded "Minty"
"New News Begins with Us"
Rivalry with "News Factory" as a Major Voice within the Ruling Party
After Kim Minseok assumed his position as the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, the party’s existing official YouTube channel "Deliminju" was expanded and rebranded as "Democratic Party TV" (MinTi), with its inaugural broadcast taking its first step. There is growing interest as to whether this channel will emerge as a strong contender to "Kim Eo-jun’s News Factory," considered the largest voice among pro-government YouTube broadcasts.
On the morning of September 1, Kim appeared on the Democratic Party TV’s "MinTi 07" broadcast at 7 a.m. and stated, "I think it would be best to carefully select and communicate at least one key stance of the Democratic Party on that day and at that moment. I hope this becomes a show that sets the party’s policy direction." He continued, "This initiative started from the idea that new information should begin with us."
Since the timeslot overlaps with Kim Eo-jun’s program (which airs at 7:05 a.m.), some interpret this move as an attempt to reduce reliance on pro-government YouTube channels by providing an alternative through Democratic Party TV. However, as of now, Democratic Party TV has 470,000 subscribers, compared to Kim Eo-jun’s 2.32 million, marking a difference in scale. On this day, the highest number of concurrent live viewers for Democratic Party TV was about 55,000, while Kim Eo-jun’s program saw around 200,000 viewers.
Kim also personally explained the newly launched "Megaten," a special innovation initiative focused on the party’s top 10 priorities. He said, "A party that studies is the best kind of party, and a politician who studies is the best kind of politician. If the broadcast can convey that impression, it would be the highest compliment possible."
