Short-Term Climate Companion Card for Youth Now Available
Seoul City launched the “Climate Companion Pass” on September 1. This new product combines the government’s public transportation subscription cards—the Climate Companion Card and the K-Pass. Benefits have been expanded, including a youth discount age limit raised to 39.
Starting today until October 2, Seoul will operate onsite promotional booths at 12 major subway stations with high passenger traffic, including Seoul Station, City Hall Station, and Jamsil Station.
At these booths, those who return an expired physical Climate Companion Card can exchange it for the newly launched Climate Companion Pass physical card or for a convenience store coupon worth 2,000 won. The city will also provide assistance to seniors who have difficulty using digital devices, offering support for everything from installing the mobile app and signing up for the K-Pass to registering the card.
Until the release of the Climate Companion Pass youth edition, Seoul City will operate a short-term Climate Companion Card for youth in order to minimize any loss of benefits for current youth users of the older card. Users who complete youth verification for the Climate Companion Card on the Tmoney website can purchase a 7-day pass for 13,000 won, a 35% discount from the original price of 20,000 won.
The application period for the Climate Companion Card’s 30,000 won monthly payback program, which was introduced to ease citizens’ transportation expenses, runs until the end of September. Those who used the 30-day version of the card between April and June can receive a refund of 30,000 won per month, up to a maximum of 90,000 won. In particular, the youth discount is available to those up to 39 years old, not just 34, and additional discounts can be received on the Ttareungi monthly bike pass and Seoul Grand Park admission fees.
