The strategy is to supply high-quality Korean products to the Chinese market and secure new revenue streams through Haizewang, which boasts more than 98 million registered members and an online-offline distribution network spanning all of China.
On September 1, Seoul Electronics & Telecom announced that it had signed a “strategic business agreement (MOU) for the supply of Korea’s excellent products to the Chinese market” with Haizewang Suzhou Technology Co., Ltd.
Under the agreement, Seoul Electronics & Telecom will discover and source top-tier Korean products tailored to the needs of Chinese consumers and propose them to Haizewang. Haizewang, in turn, will leverage its proprietary platform and local distribution network in China to pursue product placement and sales.
Haizewang is a company listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange’s ChiNext board in China and recorded sales of 10.273 billion yuan (approximately 2 trillion won) last year. As of the end of last year, it had surpassed 98 million registered members and operates 1,284 family service stores throughout China.
The company has also built an omnichannel distribution network, combining offline stores, its own application, WeChat Mini Programs, and instant delivery. Expanding from its traditional focus on infants and children to the broader family consumption market, Haizewang is considered a highly effective distribution platform for Korean companies seeking to enter China.
Seoul Electronics & Telecom plans to expand cooperation by supplying not only its own products but also products from domestic Korean companies seeking to enter the Chinese market to Haizewang. The emphasis will be on K-products—such as cosmetics, household goods, food, and baby products—with strong competitiveness in the Chinese consumer market, focusing on placement and sales through the platform.
In particular, the core of this business approach is that Korean companies can leverage Haizewang’s expansive member base, offline stores, and online channels without having to build their own large-scale distribution network in China. Seoul Electronics & Telecom aims to foster a new growth engine in Chinese distribution by establishing a structure that links product discovery, placement, and sales in the local market.
Haizewang has recently been actively applying artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology to its retail business. Based on its self-developed AI model "KidsGPT" specializing in the infant and family sectors, the company applies AI to product selection, marketing, and customer management. Haizewang is recognized for its digital business capabilities supported by its vast member data and distribution network.
The business ecosystem led by founder and Chairman Wang Jianguo is also expected to strengthen efforts to capture the Chinese consumer market. Chairman Wang holds influence not only over Haizewang but also over HuiTongDa, which is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and JinTongLing, listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Haizewang is expanding its business scope from retail and distribution to industrial internet, AI, and smart industries.
During the collaboration, Nakhyun Kim, CEO of Richard Arthur Partners, reportedly played a key role in connecting the two companies based on his local network in China. Going forward, he intends to continue helping to discover promising domestic companies and competitive K-products for Haizewang’s distribution network and further facilitating Korean enterprises’ entry into the Chinese market.
Seoul Electronics & Telecom plans to gradually expand the variety of products handled and its pool of domestic partners as product placement and sales become fully operational.
A Seoul Electronics & Telecom official stated, “This agreement is significant in that it establishes a tangible business foundation linking competitive K-products with China’s vast consumer market. We will accelerate our business efforts to make sure that product sourcing and placement negotiations with Haizewang translate directly into actual sales and revenue.”
