Toss Bank Achieves Record Half-Year Net Profit of 58.9 Billion Won, Up 45.8% YoY
Second Quarter Net Profit Up 35.5% Year-on-Year
Toss Bank recorded a net profit of 58.9 billion won in the first half of this year, marking the highest half-year performance in its history.
On August 31, Toss Bank announced in its "2026 First Half Business Disclosure" that its net profit for the first half of this year reached 58.9 billion won, a 45.8% increase compared to the first half of last year (40.4 billion won). In the second quarter alone, net profit was 29.4 billion won, up 35.5% from the second quarter of last year (21.7 billion won).
The loan balance at the end of the first half of this year stood at 15.6373 trillion won, a 3.3% increase from the same period last year (15.13 trillion won). In the second quarter of this year alone, Toss Bank supplied 490 billion won through inclusive finance and mid-rate loans, such as "Hae-sal-lon" and "Sa-it-dol" loans targeting financially vulnerable groups.
On the other hand, the deposit balance stood at 27.0757 trillion won, down 9.9% from the same period last year. This decrease was attributed to money movement toward the stock market resulting in deposit outflows. However, Toss Bank explained that the number of newly opened accounts for its main demand deposit product, the Toss Bank Account, increased by 42% compared to the end of the first half of last year, reaching 1.3 million accounts. In addition, the cumulative number of foreign currency deposit accounts—an industry first—reached 3.4 million, maintaining stability in deposit product volumes.
As of the end of the first half of this year, the total number of Toss Bank customers stood at 15.66 million, a 21% increase compared to the end of the first half of last year (12.92 million). Toss Bank stated that its customer base has continued to grow, surpassing 16 million by mid-August.
Net interest income for the first half was 423.3 billion won, a 1.5% increase from the first half of last year (416.9 billion won). The net interest margin (NIM) was 2.57%, the same level as at the end of last year’s first half.
Non-interest income also improved, with losses narrowing from 27 billion won in the first half of last year to a deficit of 3.5 billion won in the first half of this year. A Toss Bank representative said, "Despite exemption of early repayment and overseas remittance fees, non-interest profit and loss improved thanks to the growth in the Wealth Management (WM) division and check card usage, achieving meaningful structural improvement."
