Enhypen Scores First No. 1 on Billboard 200 Album Chart in Six Years Since Debut
Sixth K-pop Boy Group to Top the Chart
The group Enhypen has reached the top of the U.S. Billboard main album chart, the 'Billboard 200,' for the first time in six years since their debut.
According to Billboard’s chart preview article published on the 30th (local time), Enhypen’s 8th mini album 'THE SIN: BLISS' recorded 98,000 album units during the most recent charting period. This placed them ahead of Ella Langley, who ranked second, and Olivia Rodrigo, who ranked third. The album’s pure sales reached 92,000 copies, securing the group first place in the 'Top Album Sales' as well. The streaming equivalent album (SEA) tally amounted to 6,000 copies.
Since their debut in 2020, Enhypen made their first entry into the 'Billboard 200' in 2021 with 'BORDER: CARNIVAL.' Including their latest achievement, a total of ten of their albums have charted. 'ROMANCE: UNTOLD' and 'THE SIN: VANISH' both peaked at No. 2. Since the release of 'MANIFESTO: DAY 1,' seven consecutive albums have made it into the Top 10.
Among K-pop boy groups, Enhypen is now the sixth act to reach No. 1 on the 'Billboard 200.' Previously, BTS, SuperM, Stray Kids, ATEEZ, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER also claimed the top spot. For girl groups, BLACKPINK, NewJeans, TWICE, and KatzEye have previously ranked No. 1. The original soundtrack (OST) for the Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' also reached No. 1.
The 'Billboard 200' ranks albums by combining traditional sales for physical albums, streaming equivalent album (SEA) counts, and track equivalent album (TEA) downloads, after converting streams and digital purchases into album units.
'THE SIN: BLISS' is Enhypen’s first album released as a six-member group, after the recent reorganization from seven members. As of the Hanteo Chart tally on August 27, the album surpassed cumulative sales of 2.02 million copies in Korea, becoming their fifth double million-seller album.
The album is the second in the 'THE SIN' series, which draws its motif from the concept of sin. It contains the conclusion of a journey depicting lovers who break a taboo and run away together. The album features a total of ten tracks, including the title song 'Bloody Paradise' and the track 'Two Fools.'
