Heavy Rain Alerts Issued for Gwangju, Ulsan, North Jeolla, and North Gyeongsang... Government Activates Level 1 Emergency Headquarters
The government has activated Level 1 of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) as heavy rain alerts have been issued for the regions of Gwangju in South Jeolla, Ulsan, North Jeolla, and North Gyeongsang.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that, as of 5:00 p.m. on August 30, the heavy rain disaster crisis alert has been raised from "Attention" to "Caution," and emergency duty for Level 1 of the CDSCH has commenced.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast that locally strong rainfall, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds, would occur across various parts of the country on this day.
Yoon Ho-jung, Minister of the Interior and Safety, instructed agencies and local governments to closely manage disaster situations based on real-time weather updates and to strengthen cooperation systems among relevant organizations, including the police, fire departments, and local governments.
He also called for maintaining a seamless emergency response system through prompt information sharing.

Chief Yoon stated, "As rainfall is forecast for the weekend and nighttime hours, we ask all citizens to check weather information frequently and avoid dangerous areas such as rivers and valleys. Please actively cooperate with official disaster information and evacuation or control guidance from the authorities."
