LG Uplus Offers Global Membership Benefits with Leading Overseas Telecom Operators...Pilot Service Launched in Japan
Joining the "Wonderjoy Travel Alliance"
Offering Local Benefits in Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, and More
LG Uplus will launch a global membership service available in overseas markets including Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan within this year.
On August 30, LG Uplus announced that it has completed registration as a member of the "Wonderjoy Travel Alliance," a global telecommunications alliance, and finished its pilot operation in Japan. When the official service begins, customers will be able to enjoy a variety of partnership benefits—including shopping, sightseeing, and transportation—from local telecom operators in major international travel destinations.
The Wonderjoy Travel Alliance is the world’s first global cooperative platform that enables national telecom companies to share their exclusive benefits with each other. Only one telecom provider from each country can join. Currently, leading Asia-Pacific carriers such as Singtel (Singapore), KDDI (Japan), HKT (Hong Kong), AIS (Thailand), Taiwan Mobile (Taiwan), Globe (Philippines), Telkomsel (Indonesia), and Optus (Australia) participate in the alliance. LG Uplus has joined as the new partner and representative from Korea.
LG Uplus decided to join the Wonderjoy Travel Alliance to expand its membership services—previously focused on Korea—to overseas markets, and to offer customer value that goes beyond simple roaming to enhance the overall travel experience. Through this, LG Uplus plans to establish a global membership system, enabling members to enjoy various benefits provided by local telecom operators—such as shopping, sightseeing, and transportation—even when traveling abroad.

During this pilot program, benefits including Don Quijote discount coupons, Lawson (convenience store) discounts, and Mount Fuji one-day tour offers were provided to customers who subscribed to Roaming Pass and applied for the event.
According to the pilot results, over 10,000 coupons were downloaded during the three-month period. Notably, 9 out of 10 customers who downloaded a coupon made use of the Don Quijote and Lawson discount benefits. By age group, users in their 40s accounted for the largest proportion at 34.8%, followed by those in their 30s (24.8%), 50s (18.6%), and 20s (15.7%).
LG Uplus plans to launch the official service within this year, improving service quality by incorporating customer feedback and usage data obtained during the pilot program.
