KOSPI Drops 1.79% to the 6,700 Range... KOSDAQ Closes Slightly Higher
The KOSPI fell by more than 1%, dropping to the 6,700 range. The KOSDAQ, however, closed slightly higher.

By investor type, individual investors made a net purchase of 424.5 billion won, while foreign investors and institutions sold a net of 1.7586 trillion won and 284.4 billion won, respectively.
More sectors rose than fell. The electrical and electronics sector (-3.19%), utilities (-3.09%), and pharmaceuticals (-3.01%) declined. In contrast, chemicals (+3.83%), textiles and apparel (+3.09%), and food, beverages, and tobacco (+2.68%) advanced.
Among the top 20 stocks by market capitalization, results were mixed. Samsung Biologics (-6.78%), SK hynix (-4.45%), and Samsung Electronics (-3.38%) saw their share prices fall, while Doosan Enerbility (+2.68%), Samsung Electro-Mechanics (+2.60%), and KB Financial Group (+2.08%) rose.
The KOSDAQ closed at 838.41, up 0.76 points (0.09%) from the previous day.
By investor type, foreign investors and institutions made net sales of 93 billion won and 3.4 billion won, respectively, while individuals made a net purchase of 98 billion won.
More sectors rose than fell. Distribution (+3.09%), pharmaceuticals (+2.05%), and IT services (+1.81%) advanced, while machinery and equipment (-1.66%), electrical and electronics (-1.51%), and medical precision instruments (-0.56%) declined.
