ADT Caps 'CapsHome' Used by 130,000 Households... Strengthening AI Safety Care
Integration of AI Technology and Nationwide Security Infrastructure
On August 28, SK shieldus announced that its physical security brand, ADT Caps, is strengthening its "AI Safety Care" service by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which has been implemented in the home security service "CapsHome," with its nationwide security infrastructure to safeguard customers' daily lives.
While traditional home security services have focused on crime prevention and intrusion detection, there has recently been growing demand for solutions that also check on the well-being and safety of family members. In response, CapsHome is expanding its role from simply protecting the home to providing a safety care service that looks after the daily lives of families. Currently, approximately 130,000 households across the country use CapsHome. Since its launch in 2017, CapsHome has built a system that enables more precise identification and response to potential everyday risks, leveraging accumulated operational experience and data.
CapsHome not only detects loitering or attempted intrusions by strangers but also provides an AI facial recognition-based return home notification feature to reassure users about family members’ daily safety. In addition, the AI automatic masking function, which automatically obscures individuals’ faces captured in footage, has further enhanced privacy protection for neighbors.
There have been several real-world response cases. For example, an intrusion attempt was detected in the early morning when someone repeatedly tried to enter the door lock password, leading to a police report. In cases of parcel theft, video records have been used as evidence to help resolve incidents, with numerous such cases documented.
The distinguishing feature of CapsHome lies in combining AI technology with ADT Caps’ nationwide rapid-response security infrastructure to deliver both threat detection and response. When a situation occurs, ADT Caps’ professional rapid-response personnel check the site and carry out appropriate follow-up measures. Unlike conventional home security services that primarily offer notifications, CapsHome provides a one-stop safety care system, encompassing every step from threat detection and on-site response to compensation for damages.
